Job Description


Supervises the team that’s serving our guests. Trains and manages all servers. Oversee day to day operations, labor, guest services and sanitation. Build check averages and guest counts to support sales. Most importantly: build relationships with guests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following, however, other duties may be assigned. Communicates priorities concerning restaurant readiness, the menu promotions through pre-shift and regularly scheduled monthly department meetings with the staff. Maintains consistent staffing levels of well-qualified front of the house personnel. Manages staff performance with clear feedback, recognition, reviews, coach / teach, and discipline. Identifies and develops staff members for future leadership roles.

Models ways to delight guests and staff members to deliver an excellent dining experience.  Maintains a structured training program for new servers. Proactively handles all staff and guest requests or concerns quickly with compassion and fairness. Ensures the restaurant’s appearance and cleanliness meets guests’ expectations by upholding the highest standards including sanitation, and equipment / facilities maintenance.

Maximizes sales and profits by teaching, coaching and upholding sales and service techniques to ensure a great guest experience.  Holds self and staff accountable for attitude, behavior, results and Gourmet’s standards / systems (such as staff appearance, four tables stations, service steps).

Inventories, maintains sufficient levels of product, small wares and the tools necessary to provide an excellent experience for our guests.

Follows company policies, without exceptions at all times. Ensures the strict adherence to all security procedures in maintenance of premises and safekeeping of monies. Deposits all cash and credit card receipt on a daily basis as per company policy. Ensures the safe is locked and the combination is spun at all times.  Responsible for covering for other employees’ day off (s) especially for the F.O.H. and Delivery Drivers.


Supervisory Responsibilities                   

Supervises employees in the Operations department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include   training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                   

High School Diploma required, Bachelors degree preferred. Minimum of 12 to 18 months of supervisory experience in a hospitality environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                   

Ability to read and write the English language. Responsible for interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                  

Ability to work with mathematical concepts. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.    

Reasoning Ability                  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software;  Payroll systems; Internet software, Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
