Job Description

Summary

Assists workers engaged in preparing foods for the restaurant by performing the following duties below.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following and other duties may be assigned. Washes, peels, cuts, and seeds vegetables and fruits. Cleans, cuts, and grinds meats, poultry, and seafood. Dips food items in crumbs, flour, and batter to bread them. Stirs and strains soups and sauces. Weighs and measures designated ingredients. Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from work stations, stove, and refrigerator. Stores foods in designated areas. Cleans work areas, equipment and utensils, segregates and removes garbage, and steam cleans or hoses garbage containers. Distributes supplies, utensils, and portable equipment. Does both menu preparation and line work specific to their restaurant. Must be able to read, interpret and apply recipe directions. Attends scheduled mandatory staff meetings.

Education and/or Experience                   

One year certificate from college or technical school; or one year of training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills                 

Ability to speak and read the English language and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

 

Reasoning Ability                   

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.  Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
